A new litter of puppies is a joyous time but with it comes the difficulty in selecting families and homes to place my much loved puppies in. While I mostly enjoy the process of getting to know the families there is also a bit of anxiety and all the feels that accompany this process. Is this family a good fit for this puppy? Will this puppy get the necessary love, attention and exercise he/she needs. Or, is this family serious about my puppy or are they looking at 3 other puppies as well? While this is completely reasonable, please keep in mind that when you express what to me seems like sincere interest in my puppy, I may be putting off other families only to be told you have found your forever puppy with someone else and are no longer interested. While I am always truly happy when someone has found the perfect puppy even when it is not one of my pups, it means I must start the search all over again. Be mindful of the emotional toll this takes on a breeder and be honest with them if you are also considering other breeders to work with.
If you have taken the time to read this, thank you! Wishing you joy and happiness in your search for a breeder you feel good about.
